A very late thank you to Mike and the team for a fantastic week. It recharged batteries that I didn't know were flat! I have been back in my mainstream school struggling to balance my personal convictions with the expectations of an unrealistic demanding system. But - next Saturday - I am going to a workshop on setting up a small school and hope it will point me in the right direction for finance, legalities etc.
Heartfelt thank yous to everyone who attended the conference. It was encouraging and inspiring to meet and talk with so many passionate people who also know how to have a good time!
Best wishes to all.
Also, I have not yet received the e-mail list. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org

I hope to meet you all again at one of the next IDEC's. Special thanks to Mike and the KRÄTZÄ team for setting up the whole thing - wunderbar!
some news from Belgium:
Since september first, our school has started with six students. We had a lot of press coverage, which helps us reach a wide audience. Also, we had some positive response from policymakers.

Hi to all of You
I’m said that I missed the conference.
I’m looking for a possibility to be a part of a democratic, free school!!
Since many years I work as a freelance on privat, public and democratic schools in Europe and different countries around the globe
I am also working on social change project (groups), with the intent to integret the democratic school system in to the public school system.
I offer a brought variety of skills to facilitate children and parents in their learning process. Basic things like how children can discover – on their own- their individual learning strategies using the Howard Gardner multiple Intelligences approach and others.
Children like a lot the Body-Mind- Awareness games I offer (ask me to send you a DVD)
With my non violent communication skills (Marshal Rosenberg) I’m able to support Consens resolutions by conflict situations, with the intent to fulfil the needs of everyone.
Please contact me for more specific information, you will find some more information on my homepage www.ipl-nicolay.com , most of it is in German at the moment, the English side will soon be more extensive

Grazie a tutti di cuore!
Sono tornato a casa (scuola) molto più ricco di prima.
Avrei voglia di vedervi e sentirvi tutti.

I was told that the Spanish version of "Free at Last - The Sudbury Valley School" ("Por fin, libres -- Educación democrática en Sudbury Valley School", see: http://groups.msn.com/educacionenlibertadSUMMERHILL/general.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=260&LastModified=4675445179760241673) can be purchased directly at the school. People interested please contact, http://www.sudval.org/02_book_18.html

... und vor allem an die Organisatorinnen!
This is a problem concerning the German language: The male version of a word is the same as the one you use for a general meaning. "Organisatoren" is supposed to address the male and the female people doing the organisational work. But it might also addresse only the male workers. It is _*supposed*_ to be inclusive - but it litterally hides the women.
Karen Kern 2005-08-24 08:46
David Rovner 2005-08-23 13:16
The translator of the Spanish version of "Free at Last - The Sudbury Valley School", Javier Herrero's email address, firstname.lastname@example.org, is not working. Neither is working his school's email address, email@example.com. And I've been asked how to get the book, by people interested in purchasing a copy of it.
Do somebody happens to know how to either get a copy of the Spanish version of the book or get in contact with Javier Herrero ?

I´m trying to write an article for "Fragen und Versuche" - "Questions and Tries" which is the newsletter of the German Freinet Movement. (For further information look at http://www.freinet-kooperative.de, if you know German, or at http://freinet.org/fimem2/index_e.htm, if you would like information in English.)
I am thinking about - and would like to invite you to answer - the question:
*Why are we networking?*
What does networking help us - besides new persons to long for? A subversive power? A subversive feeling? Support? The experience not to be alone with this ideas? The experience of living and working togehther?
What do you feel?
Was fühlst Du?
Please mail to/Bitte schreib an:

Für die Teilnehmer-eMailadressen sind wir noch dabei die Teilnehmerlisten durchzugucken und die Daten von den Leuten zu ergänzen, die sich nicht online angemeldet haben. Bitte geduldet euch noch etwas.
In order to collect the participant e-mail addresses we are still looking through the participant-lists and complete the addresses of these who didn't registred on-line. Please be patient...
